If you are finding it difficult to look after yourself, or close family and friends are concerned that you are struggling, we’ll step in to lift the burden and bring enjoyment and independence back to your life.
The first step is to contact us and speak to one of our friendly consultants, who will set up an initial meeting with you, a family member and/or social worker in your home for a care needs assessment.
We’re qualified to carry out this formal assessment, which meets certain criteria to identify your care requirements.
It may seem a little daunting, but it is a vital step towards formulating a care plan and ensuring your well-being in the future. As with all our activities, we handle the care assessment with respect and consideration, the aim being to find out as much as possible about what everyday tasks you struggle with and how we can help.
On the basis of your needs assessment, we will put together your personal care plan. This is a comprehensive document that covers not only the support tasks our carer will carry out when he/she visits you, but also a great deal of detail about your preferences, such as your spiritual beliefs, favourite foods, hobbies and interests.
The care plan will be checked by your assigned carer regularly, and reviewed whenever you feel it necessary. It remains your own unique care plan, and we’ll make sure it is fully explained to you – we can provide large print documents, sign language or braille if necessary.
Atwell Care’s individualised Care Plans are not just documents bearing empty promises. We audit the plans of our clients regularly to ensure good outcomes, and our staff check their clients’ plans before each visit to make sure they are properly implemented.
If any client or their relatives have a complaint about a care plan not being effectively followed, we investigate immediately and remedy any discrepancies.
With assessment complete, and care plan in place, we start caring for you. The cost of care is dependent on how many services you require and will be agreed in advance to enable you to budget accordingly. Unlike many private home care companies, we don’t tie you into long contracts. All we ask is a week’s notice should you wish to discontinue our services.
It won’t take long for you and your regular Atwell carer to build a bond, and like most of our clients you will begin to look forward to his/her visits. On occasion, by arrangement, your carer may be shadowed by an apprentice carer who is still undergoing training, because we like to keep our standards high.
Those with relatives in our care have often reported that they quickly noticed not only an improvement in their health, well-being and personal hygiene, but also a lift in mood. Such comments always gladden our hearts and spur us on!
