Here at Atwell we know that there are many reasons why some people need an intimate level of personal care to help them live a safe, independent life in their own space.
That’s why we offer a dignified, respectful personal care service in and around Sherborne in Dorset and Yeovil and Frome in Somerset. Our personal care services are carried out by fully trained, experienced and caring home visitors, who are there to support those for whom tasks like washing, dressing or using the toilet are difficult.
We provide this level of care for a variety of clients who may be dealing with:
Age related changes such as reduced mobility, frailty, weak balance or loss of strength.
Long term health conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, arthritis or sensory impairment.
Disability or physical impairment where tasks like washing require assistance.
Recovering from illness or surgery, where temporary help is needed.
Cognitive conditions or life-limiting illness, such as dementia or those in palliative care.
If you or a family member need sensitive, considerate help with intimate personal care, Atwell Care will step in.
When you add personal care to your care plan for yourself or a loved one you can expect the sensitive tasks to be carried out by qualified, trusted carers who are DBS-checked and recognised for their high standards.
We are committed to providing personal care that reflects:
Respect, dignity and privacy: We know these tasks are deeply personal and intimate. Our carers preserve your dignity by always asking permission, working with you to maintain modesty, and ensuring privacy. The goal is to make you feel comfortable, in control, and valued.
Consistency & familiarity: Wherever possible, you’ll have the same carers routinely. Familiar faces mean trust, and that helps people feel safer and more at ease.
Flexible, responsive support: Your needs might change over time. We regularly review your care plan, and can adapt support — whether that means more frequent help, different tasks, or changes in the way things are done.
Our carers are not only trained, but kind, compassionate and locally based, so they understand the community, local needs and routines.
Our carers meet all the criteria of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) when it comes to personal care. We provide support to anyone who needs help with tasks they would normally do themselves, but are unable to due to age, illness, disability or recovery from injury.
Some of the main tasks we deliver sensitively include:
Washing, bathing or showering, whether that’s assistance getting in and out of the bath or shower, or helping with a wash in bed. We ensure the water is the right temperature, towels are ready, and you have maximum privacy.
Dressing: we help you choose clothes you like and feel comfortable in. We allow time and a pace that suits you, helping with buttons, zips, shoes or mobility aids.
Toileting and continence is handled with the utmost discretion. We make sure you have access to what you need, help with hygiene, and support for any continence equipment. We do so in a way that is respectful and without embarrassment.
Grooming (hair, shaving, oral care etc.). If you wish, we’ll help with brushing teeth, hair care, shaving, applying lotions or other personal grooming tasks — always following your preferences.
There’s no need for anyone to struggle alone. Let us help you manage your basic needs and stay comfortable, safe, well and happy in your home.
